Finally Upgraded To 2.7
Here is just a brief little post to test the functionality of WordPress version 2.7 on the site. Believe it or not WPM was running on very very old version of WordPress. Why? Because I was too lazy to find replacement plugins for some of my favorite plugins that don’t work with version 2.7.
What I am missing is Gregarious, a social bookmarking plugin, and a few others. Ultimate Tag Warrior activated but doesn’t work in the write post screen and I see some other theme tweaks that need done. And I need to find a good social bookmarking plugin, possibly a tweaked version of Share This or add my own into the theme. The real rest is when I push the publish button on this post and hopefully don’t get any error messages.

nice to hear you’ve upgraded, although it’s a shame to see you seem to have completely messed up your right sidebar lol

Thanks PS3, I didn’t even notice it when I was messing with the tags code on single posts. Looks good on my browser now.

The easiest way to upgrade is by using the free WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin. It is a simple no pains process that only takes a few minutes.
Your wordpress installation and database will be automatically backed up and the latest WordPress 2.7 installation downloaded from WordPress.org and installed.

Wow Brian thanks for letting me know about that automatic upgrade plugin. Imagine a website dedicated to WordPress and….

Kha, the biggest difference is the look and functionality of the dashboard. You should always keep your WordPress blog up to date with the latest version.
I have a few posts on the site here:

And if you use Google to search for the difference you can save me a lot of time trying to explain what many, many others have already written about.

Is there any step by step tutorial how to upgrade to WP-2.7 here?

I would probably try and click the WordPress Upgrade Guide link up on the navigation bar.

I recently upgraded myself, and I’m pretty happy with it. I also wanted to say that I don’t comment on here much, but I love this site and I was wondering if you happened to read the recent article about hot job skills for 2008 that features WordPress. In fact, it shows wordpress trends as having increased by 4 times from that of the previous year. I found this encouraging (and figured I’d share) because in this economy, it’s good to be a part of something that is actually in demand.
Looking forward to your next post.

Thanks for the kind words Becca, I have noticed an increase of people contacting me for WordPress help. I know if I would add a menu of sorts or present my services in a more… err professional matter I would get even more work too but it seems at times its hard enough to do what I get now and post a few times a week.

Hi Jeff,
Is it save to upgrade to wp 2.7, i mean is there any bugs in this version. Thanks

Camellia, I haven’t encountered any bugs, but there are so many variables involved, including what version you started with, plugins, your hosting account database…
If you upgrade manually and make a backup you can always revert back, but you should always keep up to date and any issues that arise will be easier to handle than dealing with many if you skip over a lit of different versions.
Sorry I don’t have a straight answer, but usually issues are few and far between and I always like to caution people.

I feel your pain. Upgrading is a real chore, especially when you have multiple sites to work with. : (

“Do you know how a WordPress blog works” Meaning that the posts are in a chronological order and can be time sensitive.

Drive-By comments will be deleted! Like "Thanks for sharing", "Nice post", or any other text that doesn't contribute to the discussion. If you ask a very specific question about your particular WordPress theme, it will probably be deleted. I can fix your WordPress site but for a price. If you ask a question like "Why don't my blog work right", it will be deleted. If you ask a question about your WordPress site without a leaving a link to it, it will be deleted. The point is to ask questions and or comment on the the actual content of the post, and to please use some common sense. All comments are moderated and will appear when approved. Thank you.
