How To Add Images To A WordPress Post

Inserting images into a WordPress post is fairly easy to do, but you must be careful and make sure that the images are properly formatted, and the right size. WordPress has an integral image uploader and editor for the proper placement and sizing of images within the post content.

This is an older video I did almost a year back. It shows how to use some of the advanced tools for working with images in a WordPress post. That part of the WordPress dashboard hasn’t changed much since then so it should still be relevant.

You can however use a different folder or even sub-domain on your web server for saving file uploads as in the setting screen above. This offers two advantages – your image URLs become relatively shorter and second, the size of your WordPress folder will always remain small and manageable.

Another thing to be mindful of is the wordpress theme you are using. If you install a custom wordpress theme then you may be at the mercy of the designer because CSS can change or override image settings.

I always do the same thing over and over depends on the image size. If it’s left aligned, I put the link to the image for a bigger resolution. If it’s not, I tend to set it as 488 pixel width to fit the post content area
