How To Find WordPress Documentation Fast

Have you ever spent what seems like hours looking for information about WordPress code? Spending too much Google time and not enough time actually finding the correct WordPress information you are searching for? There is now a neat tool, actually website, that can help you find what you are looking for fast.

The new site is called WPLookup. This is a very simple tool with one function: quickly find Wordpress Codex documentation for a function or template tag. So if you see a function in a theme and want to learn more about it just type it into the search box. It only searches and returns results from the WordPress Codex. For those of you unfamiliar with the WordPress Codex, it is the complete, ever evolving documentation of WordPress. It has everything from “Where To Start” to “Writing a Plugin” and everything in between. I will say that the reading is a bit geeky and not very newbie friendly.

So if you are into messing with your WordPress Theme or into the code and need quick answers check out WPLookup.

Think of it a Google for the WordPress Codex. It just searches the WordPress documentation site.

I wish I had found this 2 days ago. I had trouble switching my permalinks to a more SEO friendly version. I was searching all through the codex and the forums. Eventually the problem resolved itself, but it would have been nice to know about this. This will also come in handy when I delve into designing my own wordpress themes.

Thank you

Well, Now wordpress codex is some what out dated with very old information. That’s a famous thing among wordpress bloggers, Normally wordpress forum gives a good support to solve something. I think WP lookup also a good source to get any help regarding wordpress.

WPlookup can be a alternative for wordpress codex, but we can’t forget about the content in wordpress codex. Even it’s outdated still we can get many resources to make a successful wordpress blog.

It didn’t work that well. I search for ‘hook’ it didn’t even show any matching results. Then I try to search just ‘a’, it return no results. I am sure there are plenty of function that contain the ‘a’ alphabet.

Drive-By comments will be deleted! Like "Thanks for sharing", "Nice post", or any other text that doesn't contribute to the discussion. If you ask a very specific question about your particular WordPress theme, it will probably be deleted. I can fix your WordPress site but for a price. If you ask a question like "Why don't my blog work right", it will be deleted. If you ask a question about your WordPress site without a leaving a link to it, it will be deleted. The point is to ask questions and or comment on the the actual content of the post, and to please use some common sense. All comments are moderated and will appear when approved. Thank you.
