I find that the most difficult problem to solve is with SEO plugins as you can’t really see what is happening without looking at the source code.

I have had so many issues with conflicting plugins… My first few blogs I stupidly loaded them up with dozens of plugins only to find that my blog pretty much self imploded. I found myself with tons of blank pages and Big G slapped me with a huge ranking penalty. Not good for SEO. Thanks for the post, interested in reading more.

Thanks for the tip, disabling Smart Update Pinger resolved my problem, or atleast partly. Wordpress doesn’t seem to ping with our without Smart Update Pinger anymore.

Have any tips?

Nikki switch themes and see if that fixes your problem. If so upload an unedited version of your theme. If not then it may be the WordPress files need uploaded again.

I have had exactly the same problem, but can’t trace it back to any plugins – I only have 2 plugins anyway!

I was recently hacked though and have spent the morning going through the theme files to take out the offending code.

Any ideas?
