That’s what I was scared of – I don’t know what I’m doing!

What I’m going to do is install WordPress on one of my unused sites and get that up and running correctly.
Then I’ll completely back up my html site, delete the files, and install the files from my unused site, which I know works.

I changed the site in my sig, which was all HTML till last week, and is now WordPress, but I can’t remember what I atually did, as I was doing it on the fly.

No there is much more to it than that. So don’t go deleting anything if you don’t know what you are doing.

After you’ve done that, do you just delete the index.html from the public_html folder, and your new WordPress page will then load automatically?

I have yet to conquer the art of coding for WordPress. It is kind of difficult, but if I actually took the time, I’m sure I could figure it out. I just get so confused because of all the php includes, I can’t remember what I put in which file.

Maybe I need to learn to be more organized?

I agree with manson. There are so many alternatives these days. Css is great when working with wordpress. It is a matter of knowing not only CSS but the inner workings of wordpress as well. I guess it depends one ones experience.

Nice write-up but I can’t believe you’re still trying to get people to use tables to build heir sites! This is 2009 for crying out loud. Web standards, semantic HTML and CSS are a live and well.
