I love the possibility to change the publishing date to the past (even if it is for some days or a week or two).

But what happens with the feeds? Will these be published too or will this only happen on posts with actuall or future dates?

If those posts with dates in the past are automaticly added to the feeds, is there a way how to prevent a post being published on the feed itself? Especially inserting archived posts dated some months and years ago, I would like to prevent them published at my subscribers lists.
Someone to enlighten me?
Cheers,
Wyando, still puzzled about wordpress and feeds :)

Using the WordPress Post Timestamp is useful to build your blog content quickly but still give it the look of a well established blog.

I am having exactly the same problem. I'm trying to create a historical site with archive material from 50s and 60s etc- but WP will only show the date I publish at the top of the post.

FYI, I am trying to set the post date to february 2nd of year 1916, with NO SUCCESS; as soon as I save the post it set TODAY as the published date.

The timestamp has probably moved to a different location since this post of so long ago. Look near the top right.

Hiding the date or timestamp requires the code on the themes files to be edited. That can be tricky and somewhat involved.

Thanks this helps :-) ... but does backdating mean that search/indexing won't work on the post?
