Can’t Edit Sidebar Widgets In WordPress 2.6

Have you tried to edit sidebar widgets on WordPress version 2.6 and not been able to see the edit link on the current widgets? Well I have experienced this on Firefox version 3.0.1. While I don’t know of a fix yet there is no reason to panic.

Well the fix is quite simple because the edit link is still there just not quite visible. As you can see from the first image below I was not able to see the edit link in Firefox.

In the next image you will see the edit link image is visible in Internet Explorer version 7.0. I prefer Firefox over IE so this is a bummer.

But the edit link is still there in Firefox, just mouse over the bottom right side of the widget and when your mouse finds the link your mouse cursor will change to its active link look and then you can open the widget.

I haven’t researched this much but usually new versions of any applications like these tend to fix little things like this. So don’t panic and dump Firefox just click where the link should be and you can continue to use WordPress 2.6 and Firefox.

Huh! It is there, Thanks foe letting me know because many edits are pending since I have been upgraded to 2.6. I was thinking to search about it in a few days because I thought that it will take a lot of time but Thanks for saving my several hours.

I think this post will have helped many bloggers and your posts would have already saved a lot of time. It is very helping and I always feel good to see such posts. On my own blog, I have posted many articles about little confusing and hidden things.

Thanks for this post, I personally like firefox also. However, I can see the edit on the widget in IE but there are too many times when clicking on it gives me no response. I thought it was the theme selection but tested it with different ones and still no go. Any insights?
Thanks

I can see both the edit links in my IE & Firefox somehow.

However i can ONLY click the edit link on my Firefox.
It doesn’t response when i click it in IE. (as describe in this post) LOL.

Maybe it’s got something to do with the version of the WordPress or Browsers. I guess the best bet would be to try both.

Did this issue persist after upgrading to the latest version of WordPress? Also, are you currently using the actual Firefox 3.5 official release vs. beta/release candidate?

Drive-By comments will be deleted! Like "Thanks for sharing", "Nice post", or any other text that doesn't contribute to the discussion. If you ask a very specific question about your particular WordPress theme, it will probably be deleted. I can fix your WordPress site but for a price. If you ask a question like "Why don't my blog work right", it will be deleted. If you ask a question about your WordPress site without a leaving a link to it, it will be deleted. The point is to ask questions and or comment on the the actual content of the post, and to please use some common sense. All comments are moderated and will appear when approved. Thank you.
