Thanks for this post, I just made this exact mistake when reformatting an old post – clicked through to preview and had no idea why everything was suddenly all over the place on the page. You saved me a long and useless trawl through the css files to find the problem!

Sometimes I have that the problem is the htaccess file so I remove the permalinks and then add them again.

Maybe an open tag or a missing closing div tag on one or more of the themes files.

And please this is not a forum or a chat room so if that doesn’t work do not reply back here.

Sorry but I just can’t fix everyone’s broken blogs and usually delete these kinds of comment requests.

hi jeff,
i have been having trouble with my custom wp theme. this is my first time to make one and have very little knowledge with php (which i believe has nothing to do with making a wp theme since it is css based). anyways, my default page seems fine but when i click on the navigation (for older entries), my sidebar is misaligned and goes to the bottom. i doubt there is a problem with the scripting since other pages doesn’t show any problem and i’ve been working on notepad++. i hope you can show me which php file to check.
