Great post and clarifies quite a bit. Was wondering if you had any info about using tags from a self-hosted blog and having them show up in the WordPress.com global tags.

I just moved over to a self-hosted blog but how do I do this without losing the WordPress.com traffic from related posts and the tags list? I mean, I know it can be done because I’ve seen self hosted blogs whose post categories show up on the WordPress.com/tags list. I just can’t figure out how.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I wanted to thank you for clearing this up for me, I had no idea why I had a completely different dashboard for my global account ect. I’m still trying to add my self hosted blog to my global blog, but I really appreciate the guidance, thanks again!

Agree that this site is a vast improvement over WordPress support.

I have the same issue-wanting to have my self-hosted (Dreamhost) blog on Youtube, and the whole API issue.

The question is, is there another way to effectively highlight my blog on YouTube?

Thanks, this is far more helpful than WordPress’s own tutorial.

I noticed that YouTube now has a service that allows you to connect your blog to your YouTube account. It asks for your API as well as your password. I can set up a non-admin account and give it that password but I’m still not sure if I feel comfortable giving YouTube my API.

Do you think this is secure? Should I trust YouTube with my API and password?
