WordPress Widgets Version 2.8
Back in version 2.7 WordPress made some major changes in the dashboard, most notable was the placement of the menus on the left side instead of the top navigation menu. WordPress Links Categories In Different Sidebar Widgets
So far up to version 2.7.1, WordPress is still showing all the Links or Blogroll in just one sidebar widget. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could separate those links by categories? You can with a little help from a plugin.

WordPress 2.7 has some major changes in the WordPress dashboard most notable is the placement of the menus on the left side instead of the top navigation menu of the past. Add Background Color To Single Page Sidebar On Default WordPress Theme
Adding the sidebar to the WordPress default theme is really pretty easy but you may have missed one more step to have the single post page show the background in the sidebar. The WordPress default theme was written to not show the sidebar on the single post page. Because of that it specifies one background image for the main index that shows the gray background in the sidebar. And another image for the single post page with no background in the sidebar area. The version of the default theme you have determines what image background to use. But don’t worry you will see what image to use right in the header.php file.
