   Hi Jeff,

   I am Internet Marketing for 11 months and I have met brilliant people on forums and specially on the plug-in-profit site forum.

   And last week I have made contact with Jeff Houdyschell for the first time, asking him about his service on blogger builder.

   I see that you install WordPress for folks, but can you also create a custom WordPress page for people? I’d like to the WordPress blog match the other pages on the site…. and the coding is a little more than I want to tackle at the moment.

   Hi Jeff,
   I came across your site and leapt for joy at having someone to help us.

   I have put in my blog at least but am having trouble configuring it. I can’t see how to add a category. I’ve tried so many times with no luck and it still remains uncategorized. I want to be able to add sections for beef, chicken etc but when I go into http://superrecipesecrets.com/blog/ nothing has been changed.

   I dont know how much help I’ll need, but it would be handy to have it configured properly.

   You could advise me the next step please

   I wanted to thank you Jeff for giving me a prompt and professional service. I want to thank you for being especially patient with a 52 year old who is frightened and a bit confused by all this technology.

   Seriously this will be my one stop resource for WordPress problems. When I need help fast I’ll know where to come. I highly recommend Jeff to anyone who wishes prompt help with their WordPress blog.

   I spent a whole week trying to add a category, posting to the Vodahost forum, reading WordPress documentation, with no luck, in the end I was going to give up until I came across Jeff’s blog. He had me up and running in no time.

    Hi,

    I have hosted in dedicated server with windows 2003/ASP-IIS. Php also already installed the default wordpress is working and permlinks to a static pages are not working..
    Please advise me and help me to install in my server.

    Matt, I don’t know much about the dedicated sever or if it matters. Try creating an .htaccess file in the blogs directory and set the file permissions on it 666 or 777.

    If you do have an .htaccess file change the file permissions on it like above.

    Then go back and update the permalink structure again.

    IIS can’t use .htaccess, this is for apache. While IIS can do URL rewriting with a certain extension it’s not automatic with wordpress. The easiest thing you can do is to use permalinks like “/index.php/%postname%/”.

    I wish to hire someone to optimize my blog. It seems to be running rather well, but I want someone to set the permalinks, to rewrite the post URL so that they use keywords.

    In the process, I want the existing posts to be rewritten and not lost.

    Any other tweeking that makes the posts more search engine friendly would also be desired.

    Gene your blog can be optimized with several different plugins and the permalink structure can be changed. But when you change the permalink structure, you are actually changing the URL of all previous posts. So if you have any links on other websites pointing to posts on your blog they will be lost. The post will still be on your blog but the URL will change.

    Hi Jeff, I sent Gene to your site in the hope you could optimize his blog and implement some redirect (from old-style to new-style URLs). There are some plugins on this topic though I never used any of them … I’ve been planning to implement this in the SEO pack for weeks but haven’t come around to actually doing it.

    uberdose, Thanks for recommending me. I know there are some redirect plugins available, I will have to test them out before I do it to an existing blog. First I would need to install the backup plugin and backup the database.

    Jeff, I am going to order your blog install for my new Pips 2 site. I need some advice.
    My website is www.privy2profit.com - should I make the title of the blog ‘privy2profit’ or is it ok to have a completely different title.
    Also if for instance the title was to be ‘fred’, would it be better for the directory to be www.privy2profit/fred.

    Jay upgrades are usually around the same price depending on the amount of plugins to deal with. And from what version of WP that is currently running.

    Upgrading anything prior to 2.5 to 2.5 will probably have plugin and other issues and will be more. It is much much easier to do a new install than it is to deal with an upgrade to a blog with a lot of plugins that may not be compatible with newer versions.

    Same as importing posts from blogger it depends on how many posts and where it is hosted.

    Again I can setup a new install of WP real easy for only $34, but for upgrades and customizations it depends…dealing with what others have done to their blog, hosting account differences/issues, and the time to check everything out and communicate between myself and you are all considered, time-consuming and will cost more.

    Thanks for the kind words Peter, I still believe that WordPress is the most powerful CMS or blogging platform available, especially for free!

    All it takes is to read and follow the guides on my site after I setup your WordPress blog and then to take ownership of your blog and add to it and learn more.

    The idea behind my offering this service is to jump-start people with a WordPress blog or site. To setup a good solid base WordPress blog with all the information needed for you to run with it and evolve it into what you want to do with it. I never intended it to be what it has turned into and unfortunately that is my teaching some people how to actually THINK for themselves, which has somewhat stifled my enthusiasm for my site and services.

    I have got emails from some clients that have done so much that I learn new things from them. But then there are others that can’t even make a new post.
