Well it seems to be almost a weekly upgrade for WordPress version 2.8. Here we are at 2.8.4 which is another security upgrade. This one addressing a vulnerability where a specially crafted URL could be requested that would allow an attacker to bypass a security check to verify a user requested a password reset. Or in other words do the upgrade!

WordPress version 2.8.2 came out very soon after 2.8.1, and might have been done so hastily in order to address some security settings. It seems a new problem has been pretty common with the automatic upgrade feature of WordPress 2.8.1.

It seems one thing is constant with WordPress and that is regular updates. Along with fixing and adding new functionality, security is one of the main reasons for updates to the WordPress core. To keep WordPress as secure as possible and to stay a step ahead of the hackers you should keep your WordPress sites up to date.
