Good post. People always think it’s about the platform but it’s really about the blogger, YOU. You make it awesome or not, not the platform. Both platforms are fine for what they do but if you want custom everything then go with wordpress (blogger doesn’t really support plugins and the such).

I had a very popular blog on blogger with high page rank. I would take care not to do anything against the TOS, but one day I lost my blog – probably because of linking to wrong websites. Since then I never again went for a free blog. A few dollars invested in hosting and domain is worth more than the hassles of losing your blog.

Paul “Especially from a big company like Google” is exactly why! They dictate the terms. It is hosted on their website not yours. While loosing a blog is the exception not the rule, I would still rather have full control of my content.

You can move a blogger blog to your own website too. I am just a little biased toward WordPress.
