Automatic Social Bookmarking For WordPress Blogs

Blogging and social bookmarking are the hottest things online these days and anyone who bookmarks their own blog posts probably knows how time consuming it is to bookmark every site one at a time. What if you could bookmark multiple social bookmarking services at one time? Or even better how about having your WordPress blog do it for you with each new post?

OnlyWire is a service that will bookmark many of the most popular social bookmarking services from one location. Just sign up for an account at OnlyWire.com, login and then join all the sites, or as many as you want and place your username and password in the list and save. This one time setup will take some time but pay off in the end.

Then you can drag one of the bookmark tools to your browser and when on a page you want to bookmark just click the OnlyWire bookmark tool to save it to all the sites you saved on your OnlyWire account. This will can you a good bit of time depending on how many sites you usually bookmark.

But what if your WordPress blog did that for you as well? Now it can with Onlywire Autosubmit – A WordPress Plugin.

Download the Onlywire Autosubmit Plugin, unzip it and install it like any normal plugin, by uploading it to your wp-content/plugins folder. Or if you have the One Click Install plugin just upload the whole zip file from the dashboard. Go to Plugin and activate the Only Wire Autosubmitter plugin. Then go to Options, OnlyWire Options and save your OnlyWire username and password.

This was the first post I have written after installing it. After publishing the post I checked a few of my bookmarking sites and sure enough this post was in there. You can also check the status in the WordPress dashboard by going to Options, OnlyWire Options.

If I setup your blog recently you probably have the One Click plugin installed. Learn how to use it here: Upload WordPress Themes and Plugins From The Dashboard

That’s a pretty neat plugin. I personally have had mixed results with Onlywire. When I’d actually log in and see what it did many of the sites had messed up tags or descriptions and some never posted. Still, it does save a lot of time. It’s been awhile since I’ve used OnlyWire, maybe it’s gotten better.

Wow, have not heard of that.

Social bookmarking is always useful and if it can be done automatically then even better.

Killer combination- Wordpress and Social Bookmarking.

I think this can make things a lot more easier.

Blogspot people are you listening?

This is one good news I have heard in a long time!

Thanks!

I have heard of this before and this is something that I have wanted to try and out but never really got around to doing it.

I have tried this a few times with different blogs with much the same result – it works for a couple of days, spikes your traffic and then blocks you for submitting too many posts in a day – even if you only post a couple of times a week, will also sometimes screw-up your mysql and mess up the headers, and so I gave up.
you could try socialposter.com – a bit of work to set up but potentially you can post to 160 different bookmarking sites.
Check out the forums for other users of the plugin and you will find it is not an isolated phenomenon

before you all going leaping about in joy, i suggest that you look at the most recent comments at the bottom on the plugin homepage at
http://www.lionstarr.de/onlywire-autosubmit-a-wordpress-plugin.html
where you will see that even the developer has given up on this plugin!
It is a great idea, except that the Onlywire API causes it to malfunction and they will not reply to lionstarr’s requests for help.
don’t waste valuable time chasing around this idea. honest

Thank you for sharing.
I’ve been using OnlyWire service for a week. It’s very very convenient but I noticed that some of my posts do not exist in a few bookmarking sites that OnlyWire provides (like Bibsonomy).

Anyway, this plugin is cool and easy to use. The hardest thing is that you have to sign up for 16 bookmarking sites.

Still I find it useful as I only need to signup once and afterwards the juice will come forever.
